Museum of Everyday Life in the Pistoia Apennines
Via degli Scoiattoli, 51024 Rivoreta, Abetone Cutigliano (PT), Italy
The Museum of Everyday Life in the Pistoia Apennines is an engaging ethnographic museum rooted in the small mountain village of Rivoreta. Rather than presenting its collection as a static display, it uses tools, household objects, photographs, sounds and personal stories to explore how generations of Apennine residents worked, raised families and adapted to a demanding environment.
Interactive sections invite visitors to discover the practical intelligence behind traditional crafts. Highlights include the toy workshop, where simple playthings can be made from everyday materials, and the wool section, housed nearby, with an early twentieth-century loom and objects connected with spinning and weaving. The museum also offers “Walk Assistant” technology for blind visitors.
Visiting in 2026: open from 27 June to 6 September, Friday to Sunday, 15:30–18:30. Seasonal arrangements may change, so checking the Ecomuseo website before travelling is recommended.
