Villa Medicea La Magia
Via Vecchia Fiorentina I Tronco 63, 51039 Quarrata (PT), Italy
Villa Medicea La Magia is one of the Medici Villas and Gardens in Tuscany inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The estate entered Medici ownership in 1583 and today combines furnished historic rooms, formal gardens and an unusual permanent collection of contemporary art.
Inside, guided visits lead through the villa’s principal rooms and introduce works displayed across the park-museum, including site-specific installations. The wider grounds also offer walking routes and family-friendly outdoor areas, making La Magia a rewarding cultural stop beyond Pistoia’s historic centre.
Planning your visit
The villa normally opens on Sunday afternoons by guided tour and advance booking is required. The Municipality’s current 2026 information lists tours at 4:00 pm, with a summer closure from 9 to 23 August inclusive. The historic garden can be visited independently on Sunday afternoons from May to September, subject to closures. Check the official page before travelling, particularly for seasonal changes or private events.
