Fabroniana Library

Piazzetta San Filippo 1, 51100 Pistoia PT, Italy

See route

Founded from the personal collection of Cardinal Carlo Agostino Fabroni, the Fabroniana Library opened to the public in the eighteenth century and remains one of Pistoia’s most atmospheric cultural treasures. Its historic holdings include early printed books, manuscripts and works connected with theology, philosophy and the wider intellectual culture of early modern Europe.

The library is housed beside the former San Filippo complex, in a quiet corner of the historic centre. It is best suited to curious visitors who enjoy historic interiors, rare books and places that sit beyond the city’s most familiar landmarks. As this is a conservation library rather than a conventional museum, consult the official website for current access arrangements, guided visits and opening times.
